OBC Endorsed Uncle Dunkels Single Chamber Bat House Approved by the Organisation for Bat Conservation

I read many, many company statements and customers reviews reviews, and though they all sound good, this one made the most biological sense as far as material. It especially struck me saying, that hit takes years for cedar to loose its aromatics before a bat family will move in, so I choose this one and followed the directions for placement, even planting night blooming flowers to attract. Plants are growing, and I will watch patiently. And it looks so cool and is sturdy as all get out.

Very nice and well built ... The plywood, wood boards and bark are untreated so for many years of service it needs to be sealed with Minwax Golden Pecan 245 stain and then with 3 coats of Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane clear satin... Be sure to take the bottom section off and treat any exposed wood to the elements ...Put the Bat house on a 15' pole that gets sunlight all day 8 am/6 pm and was very surprised that I had bats the next day and now that it's been up for a few weeks there are quite a few in the bat house... :)Thank you Uncle Dunkels !

This house seems very sturdy and well built. It had three holes across the top, which suggests mounting it on a flat surface, such as a wall of a house or barn. I mounted it about 15-20' up in a pine tree (not a fun task) with two screws closer together at the top and one at the bottom. Now, hoping for bats.

We bought this as an alternate home for some bats that have been getting into crevices in our house. At some point will exclude them from the house, but we don't want them to move far away.We don't have any bats yet, but this is fairly similar to a successful design I built for myself once. The bark exterior is a nice addition. The flange above the box is much better for mounting than holes in the back, especially if you are working on a ladder. The one thing I would change is an additional parallel wall inside to make this a 2-chamber box. Our bats are small, and there could be nearly twice as many that way.

I bought this house in 2016 and mounted it on a 20ft pole in April of 2017. I moved locations after 2 years of no bats and after another year faced the house west and I am happy to say this evening i counted 10 bats leaving the hosue to feed and another 1/2 dozen still roosting right before dusk. Excellent product...

1 star because bats are flying around but have not roosted in the house. I heard it can take up to 2 years.3 stars on sturdiness and craftsmanship. Box is made out of plywood. But the bark on the front is real.1 star on weatherproofing because - we’ll it’s plywood and you have to stain in yourself.It’s more of a conversational piece to anyone who happens to look up and see it on the chimney.

Not the least expensive, but the best. I am buying my daughter one for her cabin
