5 stars but not perfect
I have a few different Tactical pens which I carry one every day with me. I find them very useful. I was excited to try this one as it has a lot more features then lots of my other TPs have. Overall it’s a good pen for the price range. Has lots of bells and whistle‘s on it. Comes with batteries in the flashlight and an extra set. It also comes with two pen refills along with the one already installed. This is a really nice feature as these pen refills will probably be next to impossible to find as they are very tiny and made for this type of unit. Another drawback that I have with this pen is the fact that the whistle and the screwdriver/knife/bottle opener unit cannot be in the pen at the same time. You get to choose one or the other. Whichever one you use screws into the pen to become part of it. You have to store the other part somewhere else, so it will not be with you when you may need it. All the functions seem to work pretty well. Having a flashlight in the pen is a nice benefit that some of my other ones do not have. Again for the price range of around $15 for this unit give it a try. It is easily worth that.

Weak whistle
I've condensed and organized my work backpack down to a much nimbler messenger bag. In doing so, I had the opportunity to review every single thing in it and ask, "do I really need this?"I'm also sensitive in these troubling times that what's in my bag may be all that I have with me in a crisis. It's a bit like looking at your bag (instead of your home) and asking, "does this bring me joy?" I asked that question of the one pen I carry with me and the answer was no, no it doesn't. My pen could be doing so much more. Enter the xflyee tactical pen.As pens go it works just fine. As a bonus, it has a flashlight on the end, which is good because I already carry a flashlight with me. That's one less thing I to carry, so the pen is already eliminating two items for the price of one. You're on a roll, xflyee, what else ya got?You can unscrew the front of the steel head and flip it around to use the screwdriver attachment. That attachment is also a bottle opener. Conversely, you can unscrew the back of the pen and flip it around to turn it into an actual pen. You probably want to keep the writing side tucked away though. In an emergency, I want to have the steel head available to break glass (or as a weapon but uh, not entirely sure how that works). If there's a weakness, it's the whistle. The whistle is a separate attachment you screw in to replace the screwdriver/bottle opener. The whistle isn't very loud and if you're flipped upside-down in a vehicle you're not going to spend the time digging the whistle out and screwing it into the pen to use it. Also, the accessories are important to carry with you, but there's no carrying case for the extra batteries, extra ink, and whistle.Still, this is a great all-purpose tool that expands the functionality of your generic pen. The old one doesn't bring me joy so it's out and this tactical pen is now part of my kit. Stay safe out there!

Nice gift for the guy who has everything or good for a bug out bag
This is a great gift for anyone but definitely for that guy who has everything. It comes in a nice black jewelry type box that is quite fancy. It also comes with an extra set of batteries and 2 extra pen refills. I tried all of the functions and they worked well. I particularly like that the light has a button to switch it off and to do a flashing mode. However, due to its size the whistle is separate which I did not notice earlier in the photos. You will need to remove the razor/can opener tip and replace it with the whistle if you want it attached. You cannot use all the function together something will have to be separate. Another thing with these compact models is that they do not have universal refills. While it is nice they give you 2 pen refills they are short and I am not exactly sure if you can cut regular sized ones to fit these. In normal, larger ones the ink would leak out as they have more. So the pen function may not last long after you use the 2 included. And unfortunately, when I tried the pen screw on tip with the whistle screw on tip as they were different sizes and not compatible. So you cannot replace the pen with the whistle if the pen no longer works. One last thing is that although the batteries are replaceable you will have to purchase more of the LR936. This can be a hassle and add up. But despite these issues I really do like this multipurpose tool. I just wish the whistle was switchable with the pen once the pen tip stops working. And in the best of worlds it would be great if the light was solar powered, too!

One design mistake, but otherwise great price for a multi-use tactical pen.
I don't know why they made it so you have to choose to have the bottle opener, flat blade screwdriver, and hex wrench tool or the whistle, but it's one of the other. I'm guessing you may end up losing one of them eventually. Mine came with the battery discharged so I had t use the backup. They should have included a pull tab for the penlight battery so it would not be discharged. The tools are useful if you carry this with you. It has a real pen and comes with a refill, but I'd only use it for the occasional note, it would be hard to get replacements. The spike for breaking glass is a good idea, the pen is solid and grip worthy to break glass on a car window if trapped. The spike is the point normally presented, you have to unscrew the barrel to use the pen. The penlight has a tiny spring loaded switch the first press is a steady light, the second press gets you an alert flasher. The whistle screws into the middle section of the pen, but you have to remove the three way tool. The flat blade screwdriver is a little more useful than the one size hex wrench, although I'd assume it's a common size. The bottle opener would be especially useful for beer drinkers. I like it overall, it's just too bad they couldn't integrate both the whistle and the tool at the same time. Recommended.
