Drill America - DWTSMT12X.5 m12 x .5 High Speed Steel Plug Tap, (Pack of 1)

Used it to clean out threads on a 2020 Nissan Pro4x truck bed. The bed has a spray on bed liner and the spray material clogged the rope hook threaded holes. I also purchased the rope hooks from Amazon, since the truck did not come with them but the holes were nicely capped. WD 40 and a careful repeating in-and-out and with patience all 4 were done. Recommended.

I use this tap for drilling and mounting certain scopes on particular rifles. So far this tap has served me well and shows no fatigue after uses of 6 drilled and tapped holes in steel. Nothing worse than a broken tap! Don't be Cheap, buy a new one for each use, save the used ones for chasing existing threads. Been there, done that, lots of profanity!

Worked well. Was able to tap an Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor port (14X1.5 Bottoming) on a 6.6 Duramax exhaust and save the customer a bunch of money. Wish it was American made.

The media could not be loaded.  Great quality and value and worked perfect - I needed to clean up some threads on my rack and pinion I purchased as a refurbished unit however the new banjo bolts would not screw in - used these and now they do. Glad I found these !

Saved my bacon on Acura crank / balancer bolt hole. Cut with very little effort.

Used to tap some profile end holes in "8020.net" branded T-slot aluminum extrusion, size 4080 (light). The pre-existing extrusion central pair of holes were already the perfect size for this dia tap.Didn't even bother with tapping oil, just swiped it with a touch of lithium grease I happened to have nearby, slotted it into the squirrely little two-screw-style T-grip 'handle' and went to town. 4 flutes helped the swarf loosen right out, only had to back up a half turn about every 3-4 turns to start, then about every other once getting pretty deep, so it didn't feel like it was binding up too much.Bolts threaded right in nicely afterward, so obviously it worked. Not giving it a rating for durability though because I obviously didn't "challenge" it, but appears to be in fine shape for more of the same when I need to next time.

It seems it's an odd-ball size. I used two 50-cent thread measuring tools and it said the thread pitch was .8. I believed that I knew it was 12mm, so I was expecting to find "M12 x .8" as the tap to purchase. There is no such animal, only thread pitches of 1.0, 1.25, 1.50 and 1.75. The math isn't exact. .8 mm is .0031. This tool is "-32", as in "15/32-32". It took some stumbling to get this figured out. Drilling into a 33 year old car is frightening. This tap worked perfectly to create a couple of threads in 1/8" of aluminum. Tool in perfect condition and tossed into the tool cabinet with at least 6 other "one-time purchases" of different sizes. The unique size seemed to double the cost, $16, I think, vs $8 or $9 for everything else that came up. Sometimes you pay a premium to get what you want. I ordered on Saturday, received on Sunday by 10 PM, and used on Monday, Memorial Day. Job done. If I never use the tap again, not a problem. If I do, it's a bonus. Great Service makes life easier.

There is no similar 9/32", 24tpi tap easily available in the UK and custom machining is expensive. This UNS tap arrived quickly and was a low enough price to be under UK duty threshold. Bought for one job reforming a thread in cast iron which it did perfectly.
