Fantastic Advent Calendar
This game is amazing! This was our first experience with a board game style escape room. We've done the in-person escape rooms and enjoy them a lot so we thought we would give this a try. The fact that it is an advent calendar is so fun! What a unique concept (instead of food, candy, or toys - there is a puzzle to solve everyday). The puzzles are incredibly clever and perfect for adults and/or older kids. I am so impressed by how creative the designers of this calendar are. This is no simple "fill in the riddle" activity...it is interactive, hands-on, and challenging. It was thoroughly enjoyed and I hope this company continues to make these types of advent calendars so I can purchase them for years to come. Hopefully it will be a new tradition!

So fun!
I got this for my husband and I and we loved playing the short games every evening sometimes if we forgot to do the activity, it was easy to catch up. There were times where the puzzles were simple and some we got stumped so I appreciate the hint book and it gave you three hints before telling you the answer. I look forward to getting a new one next year.

Much easier than Hollywood Star
I have played every released Exit Advent calendar (4 in total), and I played them relatively close together. Hollywood Star and Silent Storm concurrently in December through early Jan; Golden Book in late Jan; Mystery of the Ice Cave in mid Feb. So I feel like I'm able to compare them. In terms of release date, I basically played them in reverse. I struggled a great deal with Hollywood Star which was my first and thus took a lot of the fun out of it. But SS was a lot easier in comparison and by then I felt I got the hang of how the riddle makers thought. The puzzles were also just more straight forward. Other reviews talked of missing pieces but I didn't have any.The age range says 10 and up but I am an adult and I don't recommend a 10 year to play this by themselves. The age range indicates more that it is family friendly. I did still use hints but not basically everyday like in HS, I started needing them after the halfway point. The story is not that great but we don't REALLY play for the story now do we? I took off a star because I think the $50 price tag is steep. I think it would be more reasonable at 40.If I had to rank the calendars in terms of difficulty, from least to most I would putIce Cave < Golden Book (very similar to Ice Cave though) < Silent Storm <<< Hollywood Star

A New Holiday Tradition That Brought Our Family Together!
We had different advent calendars in our house - my wife had her cosmetics one, our kid had sweets, and I was enjoying my gin miniatures. But something magical happened - every morning, instead of rushing to our individual calendars, we found ourselves gathering around the EXIT Ice Cave game first! The puzzles were cleverly designed and just challenging enough to get our brains working, but not so difficult that we got frustrated. What made this calendar special was how it turned into a cherished daily family ritual. Each morning brought excitement as we solved the previous day's riddle to find out which door to open next. The story of being trapped in the ice cave after an avalanche really drew us in, and the physical components (having to fold, mark, and sometimes tear things) made it feel like a real adventure.Getting our completion certificate at the end felt like a real achievement! It was worth every penny just to see how engaged we all were - no phones, no distractions, just quality family time solving puzzles together. We're already planning to try other EXIT games, and I'm certain this will become our new holiday tradition.

Great way to stay connected through a busy season!
My husband and I have played other EXIT games and enjoyed them (with family and friends), so we got this to do each night after the kids go to bed. It was so good to have a reason to sync up with him that wasn't about the myriad of chores that the season brings. Some nights were super easy, others were harder. I think the short format was a little weird some nights where it took longer to get settled into the game than to complete the puzzle for the night. Definitely beginners, compared to their other games, but maybe harder for someone who's never done ANY of the games at all. Some reviews talk about missing parts and that SUCKS, but ours was all intact and some of the mechanics were just so, so clever. By the end of the game, as with many of their games, youve all but destroyed the box (that isn't much of a spoiler) and it really was super cool to see how it all came together. Absolutely will do another one next year, and may get it as a gift for several couples I know next year!

Maybe the best EXIT experience yet
We've done some of the stand alone Exit games and at least one other advent calendar. I think we've come to like the advent calendars (snowy mountain, and secret santa book) more than the standalone games. This particular calendar (snowy mountain) had some fun twists that went above expectations. No spoilers, but I loved how you got to use every piece of the calendar, no unnecessary trinkets to steer you in the wrong direction from a clue. Only two or three days were vague enough that we opened the book for a helpful hint or two, never needed all 3 hints for any one task. Some of the standalone games I've found a little frustrating in the past because the clues were a little wishy washy to connect the dots confidently enough, but think the very small single day tasks in advent calendar went well. Language across the franchise is a little clunky and quite British, but always have fun and entertaining story lines.Would recommend for adults, and maybe older kids, younger kids (elementary and younger) would absolutely need adult help to put together most clues. Can't wait to get another next year!

Very small print
Very small print. Lots of reading. It was ok. Unfortunately we didn’t finish it because of time constraints. But I love these idea!
