This item did have a unique aroma when first opened, let them sit out in the air overnight and all was fine in the morning. Easy to use, well made and have a rustic look to them. Used for my first attempt at making sourdough bread and it turned out wonderful . Held enough dough for a large loaf or two small loafs. Nice addition to our kitchen.
