bristles are cheap, and stuck together, but one portion near the tip bends, so we can't get a brush effect going. Only the red one worked as it should and had flexible bristles.

I was so excited when I saw this product from Prang. I had been looking for brush pens to do watercolor work and had used brush pens/markers before but the quality does not compare. By the time I checked out, the price actually lowered and I was able to get it under $3. I was honestly a bit doubtful at first but these are legit.The item took 3 days to ship which I have had worse. I do not think it was more of an issue of stock and what items were bundled in my package, and delivery was exactly a week from when the order was placed. The brush tip pens came in a box similar to the one in the image. The one I received is completely blue and there is a cut-out area where you can see the pens similar to what color pencil boxes have. My only issue with the box in which the pens come is that it was tight, really tight. I had to break a good bit of it open to release the items. Pens were secured in a blue cardboard piece--no issue with this. I took images of the tips, size and color comparison with a regular sharpie marker and was pleasantly surprised. Please use the photos to compare, this is my comparison. I abbreviated the colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green & what I am calling a Blue Violet, & BLack (caoital letters are the abbreviations) aside the strike on the furthest right, a Sharpie.Pros:' Cost: Under $3--YES!!' Quality: smooth exterior of pen as well as nice and tight, quality bristles on tip' Color: Colors included, as briefly mentioned above are red (bright & dark), orange (bright), yellow (bright, medium, fairly legible), green (undertone of yellow), a dark blue violet/navy and a black. On designated tips and caps as well as--most importantly--the hues of the inks themselves are bright. I commend the each color/hue in that even the lightest yellow is visible' Consistency: Not too fluid not to dry--just right and appearance is similar to felt tip brand options.' Flexibility: Each strike can me made to look like the last i.e. if you want a straight line, you just repeat the motion. The thickness at the end of the brush tip is very thin and I am hoping to do some elaborate work with these pens with them. The brush bristles allow marks to range but also be uniform is wanted. That being said, position and force are key depending on thickness of lines, though of coarse there is only so much the pens can do it one strike (considering brush thickness on all sides).Cons:' Transfer: Being a bit picky, color does get darker as you mark an area repeatedly. You are essentially ensuring the mark will transfer/bleed to the opposite side if on a thinner surface. Perhaps sliding another scrap sheet under would prevent this but it is best to take precaution. I expected this to happen and am therefore not counting this as a star deduction.Ultimately, these Prang brush pens well deserved the 5 stars. From price, to color, to quality, they exceed expectations. I am expecting these brush pens to last a long time yet with all the art projects I have in mind for them , they may not. I will definitely purchase them again and would recommend them to anyone considering a similar product.
