It works
New plaster pool and high PH unfortunately go hand in hand. Within a month of startup I started seeing white deposits on the plaster.I had 2 choices, drain 50 percent of the pool water or buy this product. Water is cheap where I live but still didn't want to drain. I decided to try this product. Not going to lie, I thought long and hard about spending 100 bucks.I'm glad I do and still do because it works . 95% of the white deposits were gone within a few weeks. It was gradual with some disappearing within 24 hours. Now, I'm in the maintenance phase so I'm using a bottle every few months . I will also say, The Magenta Stuff is a cheaper product but it didn't do what this product does.

Works great on removing dark grayish stains from the plaster and calcium line from the tiles
My gunite pool, white plaster finishing, is about 25000 gallons; I use chlorine tabs and liquid chlorine.I get dark grayish stains in many area of the plaster. The hot tub gets the worst stains. I am told by a few "pool experts" that they are calcium stains.I use 2 bottles of Scaletec at the time, every year, before spring and in about 10-15 days the stains are gone. Before adding the Scaletec bottles I make sure that:-there is no algae; If that's the case it is better to shock the pool, brush well and WAIT;-the water level is at the maximum;-the chlorine level is between 2 and 3 ppm; if you have high chlorine level it will use up the Scaletec making it less effective;-the pH is about 7.2 - 7.5-the total alkalinity around 80 ppm.I set the rainbow chlorinator valve to 0.50 and I add the two bottles of Scaletec.I check daily the water level and the pH to keep it around 7.2 - 7.5;I brush every other day or so the tiles and the stained area. After about one week the water becomes slightly clouded; that's when I start noticing the stains begin to lift;In about 15 days the stains are gone and the water is clear. Then I resume normal chlorination levels but if I can I avoid shocking for a few extra weeks.I suggest to use it before the spring, when nobody use the pool and the need of chlorination is at the minimum. In my experience keeping the chlorine level low and the pH right is key for a successful treatment. It is an expensive product but to me it is worth it.

Snake oil that WORKS!
As much as you’d think this was snake oil (how can a half gallon of anything in 15,000 gallons of water do anything?), it DOES work.Pricey, but worth it. Especially considering the cost and effort of things I’ve tried that didn’t work...Another half gallon going in this winter. You need to raise the water level above the scaly waterline - and wait. And wait.It takes a while (month(s)?) to soften the scale to where it can be brushed off much easier.I had a faint scale line at the waterline that wouldn’t come off with anything. And I tried everything.(It’s natural quartz stone and the scale was embedded in the stone texture).I put this in the water last fall and kept the water level above the scale line all winter - and in the spring, the scale was GONE!No scrubbing at all!It was just gone!If you can’t raise the water above the scale line for an extended period, it will not work.(I can’t raise the water level in my spa - because of the spillway)Oh, and applying the stuff, full strength, directly to the scale didn’t seem to do anything.I’ve been unable to find any indication of what the ingredients are.I don’t know if it actively dissolves the scale? Is it a sequestrant that makes the water “want” the calcium in the scale? It did not lower my calcium hardness.(I’m a little nervous that it might be doing something to the calcium in my plaster and grout.)

Good Product, BUT
This is an effective product; recommended to me by our pool company. But, it is available through other vendors for about 20% less.

Does not work
This only works if you have light calcium. If you have something that is more than 3 months building up you're going to have to get professional treatment. This is more of a maintenance product than ridding the actual problem.

This stuff works, just follow the directions
Very very pleased with this product. We used it a few months ago and still don't have a ring around the tile. I will purchase this again when needed. Just follow the directions and be patient, it works.

2 bottles and zero results
Had pool remodel only 2 years ago and noticed after 1 year I was getting calcium build up on tile line. I followed instructions but literally made no difference. I'm not sure if its because I had glass tile installed not usual ceramic or porcelain pool tile. I always have my chemical in check and I still searching for another product.
