OXO Good Grips Cherry & Olive Pitter - Beet

After trying chopsticks and paperclip and other methods found on the internet, we tried this cherry litter actually designed for the job.It does the job extremely well. It's clean design and sharp blade make the job fast and easy -- without the mess and stains of our previous attempts!A friend with another product designed for pitting several cherries at a time expressed frustration that often it fails to do the job on several of the cherries. We found this one works every time. The grip makes it easy to use and the task easy. I highly recommend it!

I have a general rule against “single purpose” kitchen tools — they create clutter when a knife often can do the same job as well. If you like cherries, though, I think this tool is worth an exception. It makes quick work of an otherwise tedious and messy job. I spent way too much time looking at recommendations and reviews before choosing the OXO pitter and am happy with my choice. It excises the pit quickly and easily, leaving a whole pit-less cherry with a small hole where the pit came out. I found that if I placed my non-pitting hand over the device there was no cherry splash. It’s even a little fun:) I also love the cherry-colored model - easy to spot in the drawer. Bring on the cherries!

We only tried it on cherries. It does the job advertised. There is a bit more force required than expected to push out a pit. And cherries being juicy do leave a bit of juice behind. If you are doing several cherries it will cut down on the work.

Just tried this for the first time now that cherries are in season. I am so glad I bought this. I make my husband one fresh cherry pie a year due to the mess and the excessive time spent pitting the cherries. I’ve tried the units that pit several at a time and they break. This one is single but faster than my old single pitter and thanks to the guard on this one there’s no splattered juice all over me. My husband can now expect multiple cherry pies in season.

Love it! I love the size of it. I love feel of it. I love the color of it. I love the splash guard. It's easy to use so I don't have to squeeze hard. I can pit a whole bag and my hand doesn't hurt. Every once in a while, I will have to squeeze in an exceptionally large cherry into it, but I haven't had one that hasn't fit yet.

Was able to pit 10 pounds of cherries in 30 minutes. Item is made well, except for the clear plastic shield that kept falling off. ("Pitting" over/into a bowl with deep sides took care of this minor issue.) I'm super happy with this purchase.

Another great OXO product! My well-used pitter was just too small for big cherries and olives. The mouth is significantly bigger and the clear, removable “pit chute” helped me avoid shooting the pits across the room. I did find a few pits that were left behind in a big batch of oversized cherries and need to possibly improve my technique.

I like the look of the device and it has a comfortable feel in your hand. It pits cherries with no issue. The problem lies and the fact that the splash guard which clips onto the bottom shakes loose and falls off after about 20 cherries. So just making a single cherry pie. We had to put it back on over and over and over again. Pretty frustrating. Not sure if we've just got a dud or if this is and overall design flaw. I usually love oxo brand products. This is the first one I've bought that I haven't been really happy with.
